Dr. Justin Mathis earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Mississippi State University in 2009. Immediately following veterinary school, he accepted a small animal rotating internship at Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Following internship, Dr. Mathis remained at Colorado State University completing a residency in Emergency and Critical Care, Master’s degree in Clinical Sciences, and a Critical Care fellowship. Dr. Mathis received his board certification in Emergency and Critical Care medicine in 2013. He served as an Assistant Professor of Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care at Colorado State University from 2014 to 2018, at which time he entered private practice in Colorado. He has served as a clinician and medical director during his time and private practice.
Dr. Mathis’ clinical interests include polytrauma and trauma stabilization, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, coagulation, anticoagulants and antifibrinolytic therapy, respiratory physiology and mechanical ventilation. Dr. Mathis’ research interests include thromboelastography, coagulation abnormalities, and sepsis-induced cardiovascular dysfunction.
