Dr. Brianna Backlund is a born and raised Pacific Northwest Native. Having had cats, dogs, a rabbit, guinea pigs, and fish, caring for animals has been a part of who she was from a very young age.

Deciding to pursue veterinary medicine seemed a logical combination of her love for animals and science. During her last year of veterinary school at Washington State University, she realized that she needed to know more…about veterinary medicine. It was at that time that her interest in internal medicine was cultivated and further blossomed during her internship year at Virginia Tech. Her residency in small animal internal medicine took her to Texas A&M University where her love for the complexities of veterinary medicine was further solidified.

 

Since completion of her residency and receiving her certification, she has had the opportunity to work in Connecticut, Colorado and now has returned back to Washington State again.

 

The last several years have had an unexpected impact on the veterinary profession. It is due to these changes that she decided to help provide services that might not otherwise be available to many pets and owners, by providing mobile and remote internal medicine specialty services to general practices. She recognizes that providing quality care is a team effort and is excited to be part of the team to provide the best care for pets.
